Casa Tequila Delivers Consistency — and a Side of Robotics
Everywhere we have lived, one of our first missions has been to find our Mexican restaurant.
Not just a place to eat—but a place that checks all the boxes: warm chips, fresh salsa, a strong margarita (or a cold Modelo Especial), and an atmosphere that feels like a break from the everyday. Mexican restaurants, at their best, bring color, energy, and just enough chaos to make a night out feel like an occasion.
York County has plenty of options. But if I’m being honest, we’re still searching for that one definitive, can’t-miss spot.
Part of the challenge? My spouse and I don’t always agree completely. I lean toward the authentic, slightly rough-around-the-edges “hidden gem.” She prefers something a bit more polished and predictable.
And yet—somehow—we meet in the middle at Casa Tequila.
A Reliable Scene (and a Full Parking Lot)
Casa Tequila has become our most consistent stop.
The parking lot is almost always full—a good sign—and inside, the formula rarely changes: lively crowd, steady service, and food you can count on. Like most busy restaurants, service can fluctuate depending on the night, but overall, it lands firmly in the “reliably good” category.
On this visit, that demand was obvious. A packed lot. A wait for tables. We pivoted to the bar and grabbed two seats quickly—sometimes the best move in the house.
Enter: Bella BonBon
Casa Tequila’s robot server—Bella BonBon—is more than a gimmick. She’s part server, part entertainer, and possibly angling for employee of the month. Bella glides food from the kitchen to your table with 360-degree cameras and sensors, smoothly navigating the dining room like she’s been doing this longer than some of the staff—never bumping into a chair, a table, or that guy who won’t stop waving for more chips.

As Jesse Ugalde shared in an interview with WCNC Charlotte:
“She’s very entertaining… you can touch the ears and all that and it smiles.”
It’s not every day your enchiladas arrive with blinking LED eyes and a personality—but here, it kind of works.

Chips, Salsa… and a Slight Delay
We settled in just as March Madness filled the screens overhead—always a good backdrop for dinner at the bar.
The essentials arrived quickly: chips, salsa, and a cold beer.
And for the record—I’m a bit of a salsa snob.
Casa Tequila passes.
The salsa has the right balance, and the chips are fresh, warm, and just salty enough to keep you reaching back into the basket. It’s a small thing, but it sets the tone.
The entrées took a little longer than usual—something we had not experienced on prior visits—but the context mattered. The place was full, and one bartender was overseeing the entire bar. To her credit, she kept things moving as best she could.

Simple, Done Right
I went with a straightforward order: two cheese enchiladas with rice.

My spouse opted for vegetarian tacos.

No surprises here—and that is exactly the point.
Both dishes were flavorful, well-prepared, and satisfying. Not overthought. Not overdone. Just solid Mexican fare that delivers what you expect.
The Verdict
Casa Tequila may not (yet) be our undisputed No. 1 in York County—but it’s close. And more importantly, it is dependable.
Between the steady food, the lively environment, and yes, Bella BonBon making her rounds, it’s a place we keep coming back to.
And in the restaurant business, that might be the highest compliment of all.
