Undercover Diner finds excellent food, a relaxing outdoor setting, and a growing beer garden scene in Baxter Village.
Baxter Village, Fort Mill, SC — After church on Sunday, the Undercover Diner, my wife and daughter headed to Fish Market Bar & Grill in Baxter Village for lunch on the patio.
The outdoor setting is a strong asset. Large umbrellas provide plenty of shade, colorful landscaping surrounds the dining area, and the overall atmosphere feels more upscale than many casual lunch spots. The patio was busy but comfortable, creating a relaxing environment for a leisurely Sunday lunch.
Service was a bit of a mixed bag. We waited longer than expected to place our order and for drink refills. In fairness, our server was very friendly, apologetic, and appeared to be handling one patio table with a section inside. Once our order was placed, however, the food arrived promptly.
What We Ordered
My wife ordered the Turkey Avocado Wrap, featuring deli turkey, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and cranberry dijonnaise. She enjoyed the sandwich and thought the flavors worked well together. Her only disappointment was the portion of French fries, which was surprisingly small and almost looked like an oversight.

My daughter built her own omelet with bacon, spinach, and mushrooms. The omelet was prepared well, accompanied with breakfast potatoes and was generously filled.

I opted for the Strawberry Spinach Salad with Salmon, topped with goat cheese, toasted sliced almonds, and peach vinaigrette. The combination of sweet strawberries, creamy goat cheese, and perfectly cooked salmon made for a refreshing and flavorful lunch. It was easily the standout dish at our table.

The salmon and salad combination worked well, though the tea arrived with less ice than expected—not a major issue, just a small detail.

One thing that caught our attention during lunch was the adjacent beer garden known as Pet Piv, located just steps from the restaurant. What was once a simple grassy area has been transformed into a lively gathering spot that adds another dimension to the Fish Market experience. The outdoor venue offers a welcoming atmosphere for adult guests looking to relax with friends, enjoy a beverage, or simply spend time outdoors in Baxter Village.
Fish Market's ownership describes Pet Piv as "a whole vibe unto itself," and from what we could see from our patio table, that's an accurate description. The space looked inviting and appeared to be a nice draw for a steady crowd.
