Undercover Diner: Flipside Delivers Again—Even on Easter Sunday

We made an early move this Easter Sunday—an earlier service at Transformation Church—and it paid off.

By the time most of Rock Hill was lining up for brunch, we were already sliding into a booth at one of our go-to spots downtown: Flipside.

It’s no secret—Flipside stays busy. And Easter was no exception. But timing matters and getting there early meant little wait and a chance to settle in before the rush really hit.

This visit had a little extra meaning. Our daughter was in town, wrapping up her senior year of college—yes, we’re counting down the days (and the future “pay raise” when tuition ends). It made for a great reason to sit, relax, and enjoy a proper breakfast together.

The Experience

Service was exactly what you hope for on a packed holiday morning—prompt, attentive, and efficient without feeling rushed. Orders were taken quickly, drinks stayed filled, and food came out in good time considering the crowd.

What We Ordered

Chicken & Waffles (Wife)
Buttermilk fried chicken paired with maple bacon syrup and a side of cheddar grits.
➡️ A winner. Crispy chicken, that sweet-and-savory syrup working exactly as intended, and grits that held their own.

Cheesy Grits

Fort Mill Biscuit Bake (Daughter)

Buttermilk biscuits, sausage gravy, aged cheddar, smoked bacon, two eggs over easy, and fried potatoes.
➡️ Strong across the board—rich, filling, and flavorful.
Only miss: the potatoes came out overcooked with a noticeable char. Not a deal-breaker, but worth noting.

Fort Mill Biscuit Bake (Mine—with Grits)
Same base, subbing in grits.
➡️ Outstanding. Everything came together—biscuits, gravy, bacon, eggs—exactly how you want it. No complaints.

The Takeaway

Even on one of the busiest brunch days of the year, Flipside delivered—solid service, consistently strong food, and the kind of atmosphere that keeps it near the top of the Rock Hill breakfast rotation.

A small hiccup with the potatoes didn’t overshadow what was otherwise a very good experience.

And maybe that’s the bigger point.

Great restaurants don’t have to be perfect—they just have to be consistently good.

Flipside checks that box.
